Glitched Masters brings Counter-Strike back to its roots and to a legendary Jönköping venue.

Jönköping's Elmia fairgrounds hosted countless Counter-Strike tournaments, including two CS:GO Majors in 2013 and 2014

Glitched has announced that it will host an open bring-your-own-computer (BYOC) tournament as part of a new gaming and LAN festival on the Elmia faigrounds in Jönköping, Sweden, on June 13-16.

The organizers look to host 40 teams for the tournament, which will come from a sign-up process on a first-come, first-serve basis. The registration will open on April 8.

As a tier-two ranked event and with a prize pool of 158,500 to 238,500 SEK ($16,000 to 24,000) depending on attendance, the Glitched Masters is certain to attract lower-tier teams looking to gain LAN points on the Valve Regional Standings.

Nowadays, that is a crucial barrier of entry to tier-one events and their qualifiers. Tournaments of a similar nature, such as the Fragadelphia series, have seen teams shoot up the ranks thanks to offering a chance to play on LAN, a key factor on Valve's ranking that most teams cannot reach.

The Glitched Masters is a return to the roots. Until the series was shut down in 2024, the same Jönköping venue hosted similar DreamHack festivals for over two decades, which featured many similar BYOC tournaments as well as top-tier Counter-Strike competitions, including two CS:GO Majors.

Some of the same people are now behind Glitched, including Tomas Lyckedal, who is a former DreamHack chief and now one of the founders of the new company.

"We created Glitched Masters to bring back what's been missing since the old days. Massive tournament areas where any team can take the chance and benchmark themselves on LAN versus the best teams in the region," Lyckedal said of the initiative.
